4,5% more passengers in August of this year
Passenger numbers are still somewhat up on last year
For August of 2008, 26.078 passengers arrived and departed through Vagar Airport. This is 4,5% more compared to August of last year, when the corresponding figure was 24.962. In August fewer passengers were recorded on routes to Denmark and Iceland, while an increase in passenger numbers has been recorded on routes to Norway and Great Britain.
To date, a total of 160.250 people have come through the airport. This is 3,7% more compared to the same period last year, when the corresponding figure was 154.536. Increases have been noted on most routes with the exception of the routes to Iceland, where 20.4% fewer passengers have been recorded.
Over August, 589 aircraft have arrived and departed, representing a growth of 5,2%, compared to August of last year.
To date for 2008, 3.993 aircraft have arrived and departed over the airport. This is 5,6% more compared to the same period last year.
The total amount of airfreight for August decreased by 16,3%, from 78,7 tons to 65,9 tons.
To date, the total amount of airfreight has decreased by 10,9%, from 609 tons to 542,7 tons.
