Passenger figures exceeded 181.000 last year
Last year passenger numbers through Vagar Airport again broke all records, when 181.305 passengers came through the airport.
A total of 181.305 passengers came and went through Vagar Airport last year. This is a 9,0% increase compared to 2004, when the total figure stood at 166.333. Increases have been recorded on all scheduled routes.
On the Denmark route an 8,6% increase, on the route to Norway similarly an 8,6% increase, to Iceland a massive 17,2% increase and to Great Britain a 2,0% increase.
Over December of 2005, a total of 10.838 passengers came through the airport. This represents a 10,9% increase compared to December of the previous year, when the figure stood at 9.769. The busiest day was on the 22nd of December, when 741 passengers arrived and departed from the airport onboard 13 flights.
A total of 5.569 aircraft arrived and departed over Vagar Airport in 2005. This is a 12,1% increase compared to the previous year, when the corresponding figure stood at 4.970. Also here an increase has been recorded on all scheduled routes, both domestic and international, this also applies to domestic and international charter flights.
Over December of 2005 a total of 357 flights arrived and departed over the airport, against 324 for 2004, or an increase corresponding to 10,2%.
According to information Vagar Airport has received from Atlantic Airways, airfreight in 2005 was significantly less compared to 2004. Airmail has decreased from 564 tons to 488 tons, corresponding to a 13,4% decrease.
Other airfreight has decreased from 408 tons to 368 tons, corresponding to a decrease of 9,7%.
