Passenger numbers increased by 16% over July

To date, the largest number of passengers ever for a single month

A total of 32.437 passengers arrived and departed through Vagar Airport over July of 2006. This is 16% more compared to the same month last year, when the corresponding figure stood at 27.966. This is the first time ever that passenger numbers have exceeded 30.000 for a single month. The busiest day was the 31st. of July when 1.607 passengers came through the airport. It is particularly the routes to Denmark - e.g. to Copenhagen, Billund and Aalborg that have recorded the largest increases, 16,7% to be exact.

Over the period January to July, passenger numbers have increased by 11,5%, from 108.868 to 121.389.

Aviation operations over the first seven months, e.g. arrivals and departures have increased from 3.281 to 3.723, corresponding to an increase of 13,5%.

Overall this situation imposes considerable pressure upon the airport, both when passenger numbers and flight operations increase to such an extent over a year.
