Long-haul flights
When departing upon long-haul flights, there are certain aspects, which merit special consideration.
Avoid drinking alcohol - instead drink water or juice. Alcohol contributes to the dehydration of the body, and in worst case scenario could increase the risk of thrombosis (blood clot) in the legs. Please exercise to facilitate blood circulation. Move your toes and stand up, possibly take a stroll along the aisle.
Keep calm - do not let your temperament get the better of you, if something irritates or displeases you. In addition, in such an instance, it is advisable to refrain from consuming excessive amounts of alcohol. Excessive intake of alcohol reduces personnal criticism and may have an amplifying effect in an anger or irritation situation.
In a worst-case scenario, the flight captain may decide to make an extraordinary landing to disembark drunk or noisy passangers. Apart from the inconvenience imposed upon other passengers, you may face a reimbursement claim from the airline company, which could easily run into several hundred thousand kroner.
According to International Aviation Legislation and the Danish Civil Aviation Administration's regulations governing civil aviation, the flight captain is the highest authority onboard an aeroplane. Therefore, always obey the captain's and the cabin crew's orders/instructions.
Respect the no-smoking regulation. It has not been imposed to inconvenience smokers, but for safety reasons. Do not try to smoke in the toilets, as smoke detectors are installed and they react immediately smoke is detected.
It can be difficult for smokers to refrain from smoking om long-haul flights, so prepare mentally and possibly bring an anti-smoke preparation, for example nicotine chewing gum. Such preparations are readily available over the counter at all Pharmacies and are also available at major airports.
